Sealing is a difficult problem that the machinery industry has been trying to solve.At the same time, it is also a major problem that plagues the lubrication and maintenance of equipment in factories and mines. 90% of the reducers used in some factories and mines have varying degrees of oil leakage at the output shaft end, which not only wastes a lot of equipment lubricating oil, but also causes equipment to use , Maintenance and maintenance bring difficulties, and at the same time, the hygienic condition of the equipment is very poor.The equipment 'runs, pops, drips, and leaks' is relatively serious, and the service life of the seals is relatively short, making the use cost of the equipment very high.

Analysis of the causes of oil leakage in currently used reducers. Taking the S87 turbine reducer as an example, we analyzed the main causes of oil leakage in the following aspects:

(1) The gear shaft passes through the circular surface where the bearing is located, and extends out of the reducer through the end cover. There is a certain gap between the shaft and the end cover hole. Due to the pressure difference on both sides of the sealing point, the splashed lubricating oil cannot pass through the bearing. The oil flows back to the lower housing of the reducer in time, and the oil accumulates between the bearing and the end cover. When the shaft is in a rotating state, the seal between the lower housing and the end cover is not very tight after long-term use, causing the oil to pass through the shaft surface and The end cover groove is leaking outward.

(2) The sealing of the joint surface of the upper and lower shells of the reducer is the main static sealing point of the reducer.Insufficient smoothness of the joint surface, deformation due to thin upper and lower cover steel plates, and loose tightening of bolts can also cause lubricating oil leakage.

(3) As the use time increases, the oil seal of the reducer ages, the shaft head wears out, and the lubricating oil leaks from the input and output shafts of the reducer.In addition, the aging of the skeleton sealing ring also caused oil leakage in the reducer head.

In order to better deal with this little red situation, we give several solutions:

1. Modify the oil guide groove

At the position where the bearing is placed in the lower housing of the reducer, set a little distance from the end cover groove along the housing (slightly beyond the outside of the bearing) inward, from shallower to deeper, and set an oil guide groove with a width of about 5mm. This is to ensure the return of oil. It is an important step to smooth the flow and reduce the pressure difference at the sealing point.On this basis, the oil return eye was changed to a countersunk head type to facilitate oil return.

2. Install oil retaining ring

Make and install a double-open oil retaining ring on the outside of the bearing. The outer diameter of the oil retaining ring is the same as the outer diameter of the bearing, and the inner diameter is larger than the inner diameter of the bearing. It mainly blocks the lubricating oil sprayed outward through the bearing ball gap, and the blocked oil returns through the oil guide groove. into the lower housing.

3. Replace the skeleton oil seal

After the first two procedures, the oil leakage problem has been basically solved, and the micro-leakage problem of oil is solved by the skeleton oil seal.We can completely solve the problem of micro-oil leakage by installing a skeleton oil seal around the end cover.

After the transformation, the oil leakage problem of the reducer has been solved, the reliability of the output shaft seal has been greatly enhanced, and a large amount of grease and maintenance labor costs can be saved.This technology has been modified, installed and used on the S87 reducer, and the effect is very good and has been widely praised.This technological transformation can be applied to various reducers and has good results in solving the leakage problem of reducers.
