What is the reason why the oil level of WSJ80-18.5-II worm gear reducer is too low?

Analysis of the reasons why the oil level of the WSJ80-18.5-II worm gear reducer is too low is as follows:

1. The seal is aged or damaged‌

  • The seals (such as oil seals and O-rings) of the worm gear reducer may fail due to high temperature, oil corrosion or mechanical wear after long-term use, causing oil leakage.

  • Check the oil pan, bearing seat and other joint surfaces for oil leakage. If the sealing gasket is hardened or cracked, it needs to be replaced in time.

2‌. Damage to the oil pan or box structure

  • The oil pan may leak due to collision or corrosion or rupture. Weak parts such as box welds and bolt holes should be checked.

  • Long-term vibration of the worm gear reducer may cause deformation of the box, resulting in uneven sealing surface and oil leakage.

3. The oil filter or oil circuit is blocked

  • A clogged filter or failure of the bypass valve can hinder the oil circulation, causing abnormal oil levels (actual oil volume is not reduced but insufficient pressure).

  • Blockage of oil pump filter or failure of internal pressure relief valve can also affect the accuracy of oil level monitoring.

4. Oil level monitoring system failure

  • Oil level sensors, oil windows or dipsticks may display error messages due to dirt, circuit failure or mechanical damage.

  • The oil windows or calibrate the sensors to eliminate the possibility of false alarms.

5. Improper design or maintenance of lubrication system‌

  • If the oil level is not filled according to the standard (if it is not reached 2/3 of the oil mirror) or the wrong oil selection (viscosity mismatch) will lead to insufficient actual oil volume‌.

  • In multi-stage reducers, if the oil immersion depth of gears at each stage is uneven (such as the worm gear is not completely immersed), oil consumption may be accelerated.
