NAD224-8-1 Does the installation of planetary deceleration require ambient temperature?

NAD224-8-1 The installation of a planetary reducer has clear requirements for ambient temperature . The core is to control the ambient temperature to avoid lubrication failure, deformation of components or shortening of life due to temperature abnormalities. Combined with the structural characteristics of this model (NAD224 is a medium-to-large planetary reducer with a transmission ratio of 8:1, and the adaptive motor power is usually large) (compact planetary wheel train and high load torque), the specific ambient temperature requirements and precautions are as follows:
1. Core installation ambient temperature requirements (official general standards, manufacturer manuals shall prevail)
Normal working environment temperature : -10℃ ~ +40℃ (this is the most core installation temperature range, suitable for most industrial scenarios, such as workshops, production lines, etc.);
Short-term tolerance limit temperature : -20℃ ~ +50℃ (only allow temporary short-term (such as within 1 hour) to be in this range. For example, workshops without air conditioning during high temperatures in summer should avoid long-term operation);
Installation temperature is prohibited :
Ambient temperature <-20℃: It will cause a sharp increase in the viscosity of the lubricant and deteriorate in fluidity. The gears/bearings are insufficient lubricated during startup, which is prone to 'cold start wear';
Ambient temperature >50℃: It will accelerate the oxidation and deterioration of lubricating oil (the oil temperature will increase with the ambient temperature, and the oil film is prone to rupture when it exceeds 85℃). At the same time, the seals (such as O-rings, skeleton oil seals) will age due to high temperature, resulting in oil leakage or seal failure.
2. Temperature adaptation requirements for special scenarios (extra optimization installation is required)
1. High temperature environment (>40℃, such as metallurgical workshop, outdoor summer)
Check before installation : Confirm whether the reducer is suitable for high-temperature working conditions - If the manufacturer provides 'high-temperature customization model' (if it uses temperature-resistant seals and high-temperature lubricating oil), it is preferred; if it is an ordinary model, heat dissipation measures must be added during installation;
Installation position avoidance : Stay away from direct heat sources (such as boilers, heating furnaces, steam pipelines) and maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters; if it cannot be avoided, heat insulation boards (such as rock wool boards, aluminum alloy heat shields) need to be installed between the heat source and the reducer to block radiant heat;
Auxiliary heat dissipation design : If the ambient temperature continues to be >45℃, heat dissipation space must be reserved during installation (at least 30cm ventilation gap is retained around the reducer), or an additional axial flow fan (appropriate the box heat dissipation ribs to blow air) and cooling coils (if the reducer has a lubricating oil circulation interface, it can be connected to the cooling water circuit).
2. Low temperature environment (<0℃, such as refrigeration workshops, outdoor winters)
Preheating before installation : After installation at low temperature, it cannot be started directly. The reducer must be preheated first. The 'electric heating belt' can be used (wrapped around the surface of the box, power 50-100W, preheating for 30 minutes), or inject a small amount of low-temperature lubricating oil into the lubricating oil tank (such as ISO VG32 low-temperature gear oil, viscosity index >140) to reduce the starting resistance;
Seal protection : Low temperature will cause ordinary rubber seals to become hard and elastic. During installation, you need to confirm whether the seal material is low-temperature resistant (such as nitrile rubber resistant - 40℃, fluoroelastomer resistant - 20℃). If it is not necessary to replace it with low-temperature resistant seals to avoid seal failure after installation;
Environmental insulation : If it is operated in an environment of <-10℃ for a long time, during installation, the insulation cotton (such as glass wool sleeve) can be wrapped outside the reducer , exposing only the heat dissipation ribs and observation windows to balance the insulation and heat dissipation.
3. After installation temperature verification (ensure environmental adaptability)
No-load start : At the target ambient temperature, no-load run for 30 minutes, use an infrared thermometer to detect the surface temperature of the box (the core area is the middle part of the box corresponding to the planetary wheel system);
Temperature judgment : If the difference between the box temperature and the ambient temperature is ≤30℃ (such as 25℃ in the ambient, the box is ≤55℃), and there is no abnormal noise (such as 'stuttering sound''' friction sound'), it means the ambient temperature adaptation;
Load verification : Run with 50% rated load for 1 hour, and detect the box temperature - if the difference is ≤40℃ (such as the environment 40℃, the box ≤80℃), and there is no leakage of lubricating oil, it means that the installation environment meets the long-term operation requirements.
