When replacing the gears of the CWO160-12.5-2F worm gear reducer, you need to pay attention to the following details:

  • Preparation before replacement

    • Confirm the gear parameters : The modulus and pressure angle of the new gear must be consistent with the original gear. For worm gear, it is also necessary to ensure that the worm lead angle matches the worm gear helical angle, and the error should be ≤0.5°.

    • Check the gear quality : Check the material proof documents of the new gear, confirm that its hardness and other parameters meet the requirements. It is recommended to use professional instruments to detect the tooth shape tolerance to ensure that the contour deviation is within the allowable range.

    • Prepare tools and venues : Prepare the tools needed to disassemble and install gears, such as pullers, presses, wrenches, etc., as well as a clean workplace to avoid impurities entering the reducer.

  • Things to note during disassembly

    • Make markings : Before disassembling the gear, corresponding markings should be made, such as the relative position of the worm gear and the worm, the installation direction of the bearing, etc., to facilitate subsequent installation.

    • Correct disassembly : Special tools should be used when disassembling worm gears and worms. If the hammering method is used, soft pads such as copper plates should be placed on the shaft head. When the matching tightening force between the worm gears and worms and shafts is too large, tools such as spiral presses and hydraulic jacks can be used to disassemble them, and oil at about 120℃ is poured on the worm gears and worms to assist in disassembly.

    • Check relevant parts : During the disassembly, check whether the box of the reducer is deformed or cracked, and whether the bonding surfaces are smooth. At the same time, check the wear of the bearings. If there is any damage, replace them in time.

  • Things to note during installation

    • Clean parts : Clean gears, shafts, bearings and other parts to remove grease, impurities and burrs, and use fine files and sandpaper to smooth the fit between the gears and the shaft.

    • Ensure matching tolerance : Measure the matching tolerance between the gear and the shaft to ensure that it meets the standard requirements. If the matching is too tight or too loose, processing and repair are required.

    • Correct installation of gears : In order to avoid damage to the shaft, it is recommended to use the temperature difference method to assemble the gears, that is, suspend the gears in heating oil at 90-100℃. When the inner hole heats evenly, immediately put it on the shaft journal. After the position is accurate, it will cool naturally.

    • Adjust the meshing clearance : After installing the gears, the gap between the top and tooth sides should be adjusted. The actual gap can be measured by the lead wire pressing method to ensure that it meets the requirements. The newly replaced worm gear or worm should measure the meshing clearance. At the same time, apply a layer of red elixir powder on the worm gear and then rotate the worm gear to observe whether the contact spots appear on the tooth surface when the worm gear and worm gear mesh each other meet the standards.

    • Tightening bolts : When tightening the box bolts of the reducer, they must operate in accordance with the prescribed torque and order to ensure that the box is tightly bonded. There should be more than 10 marks within each 100mm length. A 0.1mm feeler gauge should not be stuffed in before tightening the bolts, and no pads should be added at the joint surface. After the bolts are tightened, the gap between the joint surfaces should not be greater than 0.03mm.

  • Check and debug after installation

    • Check the installation status : Check whether the gear is installed firmly and loosely. At the same time, check whether other components of the reducer are installed in place and whether there is friction and collision between the safety shield and the rotating parts.

    • Add lubricant : According to the requirements of the reducer, add an appropriate amount of lubricant, and the oil level should be at the center line of the oil level mirror.

    • Trial operation : Trial operation of the reducer under no load to check whether it runs smoothly and has abnormal noise and vibration. The detection noise should be ≤75dB, the temperature rise should be ≤40℃, and observe whether the gear meshing is good.
