What is the difference between applying grease to different models of cylindrical gear reducer

Different models of cylindrical gear reducer grease application are different in terms of grease model selection, application amount and application method, as follows:

  • Grease model selection :

    • Select according to the speed : High-speed cylindrical gear reducers should use low viscosity and fluid grease, such as fully synthesized high-temperature high-speed reducer grease, which will help reduce operating resistance and prevent excessive heat from being generated due to friction. Low-speed reducers can use high viscosity greases, such as molybdenum disulfide lithium grease, which has good wear resistance and can provide good lubrication protection for gears at low speeds.

    • Selection according to load : For light or medium load cylindrical gear reducers, ordinary lithium-based grease or molybdenum disulfide lithium-based grease can usually meet the requirements. However, heavy-load reducers require the use of fully synthetic molybdenum disulfide reducer grease, etc. This type of grease has excellent extreme pressure and anti-wear properties, and can effectively protect the gear surface under high loads and reduce wear.

    • Select according to the working temperature : Cylindrical gear reducers working in high temperature environments need to use high-temperature greases, which can maintain stable performance at high temperatures and are not prone to loss and oxidation. Low-pour grease should be used for reducers in low temperature environments to ensure that they still have good fluidity and lubricity at low temperatures.

  • Apply amount : Generally speaking, the depth of the gear immersed in oil can be determined by the circumferential speed of the gear. For cylindrical gears, it should not exceed one tooth height, but it should not be less than 10mm. At the same time, the amount of oil in the oil pool depends on the amount of power transmitted by the gear. For single-stage transmission, the oil required is about 0.35-0.7L for every 1kW of power transmitted. For multi-stage transmission, the oil required increases exponentially by stage.

  • Apply method : Common grease application methods include application method, grease cup method, grease gun method and centralized grease feeding method. Small or low-speed and light-load cylindrical gear reducers can be manually applied, and grease can be evenly applied to the gear surface with tools. For some reducers that require regular grease replenishment, grease cup method or grease gun method can be used to inject grease into the lubricating area through grease cup or grease gun. If a large or complex cylindrical gear reducer system has a centralized lubrication system, the centralized grease feeding method can be used to realize automatic, timed and quantitative grease supply.
