How to ensure the sealing performance of FAB series linear reducer in dusty environment Selection

To ensure the sealing of the FAB series planetary reducer in a dusty environment, systematic considerations need to be made from four levels: design, structure, protection and maintenance. The following are specific implementation strategies:

1. Selection stage: clarify the high protection level

When Selection, the first priority is to make it clear that the reducer must have high standards of protection.

Specify IP protection level: Make it clear to the supplier that you require a model with a high level of protection. Standard models are usually IP54, but for dusty environments, priority should be given to selecting or customizing reducers with IP65 or higher ratings to ensure they have excellent dust-proof capabilities.

Confirm sealing configuration: In the technical agreement, the reducer is required to adopt a reinforced sealing configuration. This usually includes:

Shaft end seal: Double-lip fluororubber skeleton oil seal is used. Fluorine rubber has excellent oil resistance, aging resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and the double-lip structure can provide double protection to effectively prevent dust intrusion and lubricant oil leakage.

Box sealing: High-quality O-rings or gaskets should be used on the joint surface of the box, and weather-resistant sealant should be applied to ensure the airtightness of the box itself.

2. Structural optimization: increasing physical barriers

In addition to the sealing of the reducer itself, the protective effect can be further improved by adding an external structure.

Adopting a labyrinth seal: This is a non-contact seal that greatly increases the resistance to dust entry by designing a tortuous annular gap at the shaft end. It is wear-free, has a long life, and is particularly suitable for environments with extremely high dust concentrations.

Combined sealing solution: a combination of contact seals (such as oil seals) and non-contact seals (such as labyrinth seals). The oil seal serves as the first line of defense, and the labyrinth seal serves as the second line of defense, which can greatly improve the reliability of the seal.

Upgrade the breather (breather): Thermal expansion and contraction during operation of the reducer will produce a pressure difference between the inside and outside, and the standard breather may become a dust inlet. A respirator with a dust filter or desiccant should be used to effectively filter dust and moisture in the air while balancing pressure.

3. External protection: isolate dust environment

Adding protective measures to the outside of the reducer can reduce dust exposure from the source.

Install dust cover: Install a special dust cover or protective shell for the reducer. This physical barrier can prevent most dust from directly adhering to the reducer surface and seals.

Use a telescopic dust boot: On the input/output shaft end of the reducer, a telescopic dust boot such as an accordion cover can be installed to effectively protect the seal at the shaft extension.

Improve the local environment: If conditions permit, a local dust collection or air purification device can be set up near the installation location of the reducer to reduce the dust concentration in the environment.

4. Maintenance inspection: ensure lasting effectiveness

Good maintenance is key to ensuring long-term sealing performance.

Regularly check seals: Develop a maintenance plan and regularly check key parts such as shaft end oil seals and box sealing surfaces to see if there are signs of wear, aging, cracking or leakage. Once it is found that the seal wears more than 1/3 of the original thickness or cracks appear, it should be replaced in time.

Keep the outside clean: Regularly clean the dust accumulated on the reducer housing to prevent it from intruding into the sealing gap. Avoid using a high-pressure water gun when cleaning to avoid forcing water into the interior.

Check the fasteners: Make sure that the box connecting bolts, sealing cover and other fasteners are not loose to prevent seal failure due to vibration.

Through comprehensive measures at the above four levels, the sealing performance of the FAB series planetary reducer can be guaranteed to the greatest extent in dusty environments, thereby extending its service life and ensuring stable and efficient operation of the equipment.
