How to judge the emulsification degree of WPA200-40-A worm gear reducer

Publish Time: 2025-12-26     Origin: Site

To judge the emulsification degree of the WPA200-40-A worm gear reducer, it mainly depends on the oil state, operating performance and testing data, as follows:

1. Oil status inspection

‌Color and Transparency‌: Normal oil is transparent or light amber in color. After emulsification, it will become turbid, white or milky yellow, like batter.

‌Impurities and precipitation‌: Take an oil sample and drop it on the filter paper. If there are metal debris or floc, it means serious emulsification.

2. Operating status monitoring

‌Temperature‌: Use an infrared thermometer to measure the oil temperature. Normally it does not exceed 80℃. If it suddenly rises by more than 10℃, it may cause poor lubrication due to emulsification.

‌Noise and Vibration‌: If there is a hissing or periodic friction sound during operation, it may be dry friction caused by emulsification; you also need to be vigilant if the vibration value exceeds the ISO 10816 standard (such as >8.5m/s⊃2;).

3. Oil performance testing

‌Viscosity‌: Use a viscometer to measure it. If the viscosity drops by more than 15% or rises by more than 10%, the oil may deteriorate due to emulsification.

‌Moisture content‌: When the moisture content of closed gear oil is >0.1%, the oil is easily emulsified and needs to be tested by distillation or Karl Fischer titration.

4. Grading of emulsification degree

‌Mild emulsification‌: The oil is slightly turbid and the efficiency may drop by about 1%.

‌Moderate emulsification‌: The oil is obviously turbid and the efficiency may decrease by 1.5% to 2%.

‌Severe emulsification‌: The oil is milky white and the efficiency may drop by 2% to 3% or more.

5. Treatment suggestions

‌Mild emulsification‌: Strengthen monitoring and check the oil status regularly.

‌Medium to severe emulsification‌: Stop the machine immediately, replace the lubricating oil and check the seals.
