Introduction to Packing Seals

Packing seal refers to a dynamic sealing device that generates compression force between packing, rotating parts and fixed parts through pre-tightening or self-tightening effect of medium pressure.Also known as 'stuffing box seal'.There are many structural forms, mainly composed of packing, stuffing box and packing fixing parts.Commonly used filler materials include asbestos fabrics, carbon fibers, rubber, flexible graphite and engineering plastics, etc., prefabricated into rings or strips (some need to be pre-impregnated with fillers with good lubricity), and adopt multi-ring or spiral multi-layer structure.The stuffing box is used to place the stuffing.Packing fixtures include glands, bolts and springs, etc., which are used to pre-tighten the packing and prevent medium leakage during work, and the spring can play a compensating role.

Application range

Mainly used for dynamic sealing of process machines and moving parts of equipment in the machinery industry, such as centrifugal pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps, mixers, shaft seals for reactors, reciprocating pumps, plungers or piston rods for reciprocating compressors, and for making The seal between the valve stem of the screw motion valve and the fixed body.
