How to deal with the situation when the K series gear reducer has low-temperature start-up and slow operation during winter operation.

The K series spiral bevel gear reducer has stuck startup and slow operation at low temperatures in winter. This is actually a very typical "low temperature syndrome". This is mainly because the sudden drop in ambient temperature causes a sharp increase in lubricating oil viscosity, which greatly increases the internal operating resistance.

To solve this problem, you can start to investigate and deal with it from the following core aspects:

1. Replace lubricating oil suitable for low-temperature environments (the most critical)

This is the most common cause of lag. Ordinary industrial gear oil will become as viscous as honey or even solidify at low temperatures, causing the motor to be unable to drive or the gear meshing resistance to be extremely high.

1. Lubricating oil inspection: Check the current lubricating oil label. If you use high viscosity oil (such as VG320 or VG460), it will most likely cause difficulty in starting in winter.

2. Lubricating oil treatment:

Oil change: It is recommended to change to a synthetic gear oil with low viscosity and better low-temperature fluidity (such as polyalpha olefin synthetic oil). In cold areas, it is usually recommended to use VG150 or VG220 viscosity grade lubricants. Please refer to the reducer nameplate and ambient temperature for details.

Note: Be sure to drain the old oil completely before changing the oil, and try not to mix lubricating oils of different brands.

2. Check the motor and electrical system

Low temperature not only affects the reducer, but also the motor and power supply system that drives it.

1. Motor and electrical system inspection:

Check whether the wiring in the motor junction box is loose (thermal expansion and contraction may cause poor contact).

If it is a motor with a brake, low temperature may cause the brake friction plate to stick or be incompletely released, resulting in the phenomenon of "running with the brake".

2. Motor and electrical system processing:

Measure the voltage and current at startup to see if the voltage drop on the battery or power supply line is too large due to low temperature.

If it is a brake motor, check the brake clearance to ensure that the brake can open quickly and completely at low temperatures.

3. Lubricating oil preheating and heat preservation measures

If the lubricating oil cannot be replaced temporarily, or the ambient temperature is extremely low (such as below minus 20 degrees), physical intervention is required.
