What are the special requirements for vertical installation and lubrication of ZSY gear reducer?

When the ZSY gear reducer is installed vertically, lubricating oil is easily lost from the gears and bearings due to gravity, resulting in insufficient lubrication of the upper parts. Therefore, compared with conventional horizontal installation, vertical installation has the following special requirements in terms of lubrication:

1. Adjust the filling amount and oil level of lubricating oil

When installing vertically, the oil level needs to be re-confirmed and adjusted. Due to changes in installation orientation, the original oil level line may no longer be applicable.

Check the oil level: You must follow the manufacturer"s instructions for vertical installation, open the corresponding oil level plug screw and check the height of the oil level line. It is usually necessary to increase the amount of lubricating oil appropriately to ensure that the gear can bring up enough oil for splash lubrication when running, and to ensure that the upper bearing can also be reliably lubricated.

Prevent leakage: When increasing the amount of oil, be careful not to exceed the maximum oil level to avoid oil leakage at the seal or excessive operating resistance.

2. Appropriately increase the viscosity of lubricating oil

In order to deal with the problem of easy loss of lubricating oil during vertical installation, you can consider switching to gear oil with a higher viscosity. For example, if working conditions permit, replace conventional oil with oil with a higher viscosity grade (such as from No. 220 to No. 320 or No. 460). High-viscosity lubricants have stronger adhesion and can better adhere to gear and bearing surfaces, reducing lubrication loss due to gravity.

3. Strengthen the lubrication guarantee of the upper bearing

The biggest hidden danger in the vertical installation of ZSY reducer is that the upper bearing is prone to lack of oil.

Install an auxiliary lubrication device: Under extreme or heavy-load conditions, splash lubrication alone may not be able to meet the requirements. At this time, an external forced lubrication pump needs to be installed to actively supply oil to the gears and upper bearings.

Adding an oil supply tank: Some vertical installation solutions will require the addition of an oil supply tank on the upper part of the reducer, and the oil level in the oil supply tank should be higher than the position of the upper bearing of the reducer to meet the oil immersion lubrication requirements of the bearings.

4. Optimize sealing and heat dissipation

Sealing design: Vertical installation puts greater challenges on the oil seal. It is recommended to use a double-lip oil seal (main lip sealing lubricant, auxiliary lip dustproof), and increase the preload force of the oil seal spring. An oil slinging ring can also be installed at the shaft extension to reduce the direct pressure of the lubricating oil on the oil seal and prevent oil leakage.

Heat dissipation and cooling: The internal oil circulation and heat dissipation conditions of the vertically installed reducer are relatively poor, which can easily cause the oil temperature to rise. If the transmission power is large, an external cooling device (such as a cooling fan or heat sink) must be provided to ensure that the operating oil temperature does not exceed 80°C to prevent rapid oxidation and deterioration of the lubricating oil.
