What should I do if the SBD reducer makes abnormal noise after being shut down for a long time and restarted?

The SBD reducer makes abnormal noise when restarting after a long period of shutdown. This is usually caused by lubrication, corrosion or assembly problems. Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve the system.

Important: Before performing any inspection or repair, be sure to cut off the power supply and ensure that the equipment comes to a complete stop to prevent safety accidents.

1. Abnormal noise investigation and processing steps

1. Check the lubrication system

Oil level and oil quality: First check whether the oil level of the lubricating oil is within the normal range (usually 1/2 to 2/3 of the oil window). Long-term shutdown may cause the lubricating oil to deteriorate, increase in viscosity, or be mixed with impurities, which will seriously affect the lubrication effect and cause abnormal noise due to dry grinding of gears and bearings.

Treatment measures: If insufficient oil is found, the oil is black, turbid or has sediment, it should be replaced immediately with new lubricating oil that meets the specifications. It is prohibited to mix lubricating oils of different brands and models.

2. Manual turning inspection

Operation method: In the power-off state, try to turn the input shaft of the reducer by hand or tool.

Judgment criteria: Feel whether the rotation process is smooth and whether there is any obvious sticking, frustration or abnormal friction sound.

Cause analysis: Long-term shutdown may cause internal gears, bearings and other parts to rust due to humid environment, increasing starting resistance and causing noise.

3. Check fasteners and connections

Comprehensive tightening: Check and tighten all connecting bolts, including anchor bolts, bearing end cover bolts, input/output shaft coupling bolts, etc. Long periods of inactivity or previous vibration may cause these parts to loosen.

Check the coupling: Check whether the coupling is worn and whether the connection between the reducer, motor and load equipment is loose.
