The impact of drying method on the life of DBY180-6 reducer is mainly reflected in the damage of high temperature to the lubrication system and core components. The following is a specific analysis:


1. Risk of lubrication system failure

High-temperature drying will directly damage the lubrication system of the reducer, which is the top priority problem‌:

  • ‌The viscosity of the lubricating medium decreases‌ : When the temperature exceeds 60°C, the viscosity of the grease or gear oil will decrease significantly, causing the oil film to rupture and the metal surface to directly contact and rub, forming a vicious cycle of 'high temperature → viscosity decrease → friction intensification → higher temperature'.

  • ‌Oxidative aging of lubricating media‌ : High temperature will accelerate the oxidation reaction of grease, generate organic acids and hard impurities, corrode metal parts and increase wear‌.

  • ‌Leakage of lubricating medium‌ : If the temperature exceeds the dropping point of the grease (approximately 120°C for ordinary lithium-based grease), the grease will turn into liquid and leak, causing dry wear of the transmission parts, which may cause tooth surface ablation or bearing jamming in the short term.

After lubrication fails, high temperature will directly damage the core transmission components‌:

  • ‌Gear gluing and pitting‌ : Metal softens under high temperatures, and the gear meshing surface is prone to adhesion and tearing, forming gluing tumors, resulting in transmission jamming, increased noise, and even broken teeth‌.

  • ‌Bearing failure‌ : High temperature may cause abnormal bearing clearance, cause eccentric wear or overload, and shorten service life.


3. Indirect impact on life span

  • ‌Increased maintenance costs‌ : The life of lubricating oil is shortened in high temperature environments, requiring frequent replacement, which increases maintenance costs‌.

  • ‌Seal aging‌ : High temperature will accelerate the aging of rubber seals, causing oil leakage or external pollutants to enter, further affecting the lifespan‌.
