How to determine whether the MBY1100-4.5 hard-tooth surface gear reducer is in abnormal temperature rise

To determine whether the MBY1100-4.5 hard-tooth surface gear reducer is in abnormal temperature rise, a comprehensive evaluation is required in combination with temperature monitoring, operating status, and environmental factors . The specific methods are as follows:

1. Comparison of temperature monitoring and standards

  1. Temperature rise calculation

  • Normal temperature rise range: The allowable temperature rise of the reducer is ‌ambient temperature +40℃~50℃ (such as the ambient temperature 30℃, the housing temperature should be ≤80℃)

  • Abnormal determination: The actual temperature rise exceeds 50℃ (such as the housing temperature >80℃ at 30℃ in the environment), or the oil temperature >90℃ (requires shutdown inspection)‌

  • Key temperature measurement points

  • ‌Case surface‌ : Infrared thermometer measures the bearing end cover or middle part of the housing, the temperature difference is >10℃ to indicate local overheating

  • Lubricating oil temperature : real-time monitoring of oil temperature sensors, and the lubrication system needs to be checked immediately after exceeding 90℃.

2. Operation status correlation analysis

  1. ‌Load and temperature rise

  • No-load temperature rise: Normally, it should be ≤30℃ (environment +30℃). If the no-load temperature rise exceeds the standard, it may be due to bearing jamming or poor gear meshing

  • Load temperature rise: The temperature rise should be stable in the range of 40℃~50℃ when running at full load. If the temperature rise curve increases sharply (such as >15℃ rise within 10 minutes), it indicates overload or lubrication failure.

  • ‌Abnormal phenomena assist in judgment‌

  • Accompanied by noise/vibration: If gears 'whistle' or bearings 'buzz' sounds when temperature rises abnormally, friction may be intensified due to overload.

  • Lubricating oil status: The oil becomes black, contains metal particles (>0.5mm) or is emulsified, which will accelerate the temperature rise‌

3. Investigation of environmental and maintenance factors

  1. ‌Ambient temperature influence‌

  • High temperature environment (>40℃) needs to reduce the rated power by 10% to 15%, otherwise the temperature rise will easily exceed the standard

  • ‌Heat Dissipation System Inspection‌

  • When the cooling fan/water cooling pipeline is blocked or failed, the temperature rise may exceed the design value by more than 20%.

4. Handling suggestions

  • ‌Stop immediately‌ : When the oil temperature is >90℃ or the housing temperature is >100℃, stop the machine to check the gear meshing and bearing status‌

  • Maintenance measures : Clean the radiator, replace the lubricant (L-CKD 320 recommended), and re-measure the temperature rise

The above method can accurately identify abnormal temperature rise and avoid equipment damage due to overheating.
