1. Lubrication issues
Inadequate lubrication : Inadequate amount of lubricating oil will lead to increased friction between parts and cannot obtain good protection and heat dissipation, thereby accelerating wear and causing failures, such as gear wear and bearing damage.
Poor oil quality : The lubricant used is of poor quality, or the lubricant has not been replaced for a long time, and contains impurities, moisture, etc., which will reduce the lubricating effect, increase the wear of parts, and may also cause lubricating system to be blocked.
Lubricant oil Selection error : If the selected lubricant does not meet the requirements of the reducer, such as inappropriate viscosity, and cannot form a good lubricant film on the surface of the parts, it will also affect the normal operation of the reducer.
2. Overload operation : When the load borne by the reducer exceeds its rated load, internal gears, bearings and other components will bear excessive pressure, which can easily lead to gear wear, breakage, bearing heating, damage and other faults. For example, a large load at the moment of starting the device, or a long-term situation where the reducer drives load operation exceeding its rated power.
3. Improper installation
Axis misaligned : When the reducer is installed, if the axis between the input shaft and the motor shaft, the output shaft and the load shaft is inconsistent, the gear meshing will be poor and the bearings will be subjected to additional stress, resulting in increased gear wear and premature bearing damage, and abnormal noise and vibration will be generated.
Unstable installation foundation : The installation foundation of the reducer is not solid, and vibration will occur during operation, which will affect the normal operation of the internal parts of the reducer, accelerate the wear of the parts, and may even cause looseness of the connecting parts, which will cause failure.
4. Bearing failure
Poor lubrication : The bearing lacks good lubrication, which will increase friction, generate heat, accelerate the wear of the bearing, and in severe cases, it may cause the bearing to get stuck.
Improper installation : When installing the bearing, if the installation method is incorrect, such as excessive force or inadequate installation, it will damage the parts inside the bearing and affect the normal service life of the bearing.
Excessive load : The load bearing exceeds its rated load, which will cause premature wear, fatigue and even damage to the bearing.
5. Gear failure
Wear : For long-term operation or under high load and harsh working conditions, gear components such as cycloid wheels and needle teeth will wear, resulting in increased gap on the teeth side, reduced transmission accuracy, and even slippage and inability to transmit power normally.
Breaked teeth : When the gear is subjected to excessive impact load, or has mass defects itself, such as poor gear material performance, improper heat treatment, etc., it may cause the gear teeth to be broken, causing the reducer to work normally.
Tooth surface damage : The tooth surface may experience fatigue pitting corrosion, glueing and other damage, which is mainly caused by poor lubrication, excessive load, low gear meshing accuracy, etc., which will affect the transmission efficiency and service life of the gear.
6. Seal failure : The seals of the reducer, such as oil seals, O-rings, etc., will age, wear or damage after long-term use, resulting in lubricating oil leakage. Lubricant leakage will reduce the lubrication effect and may also pollute the environment. If not handled in time, it will further aggravate the wear of internal components.
7. Poor heat dissipation : If the installation location of the reducer is not well ventilated, or there are other heat sources around it affect heat dissipation, it will cause the heat inside the reducer to be unable to be dissipated in time, causing the temperature to rise. Long-term high-temperature operation will accelerate the aging and wear of parts, affect the performance and life of the reducer, and may even cause the lubricating oil to deteriorate and lose its lubricating effect.
8. Electrical failure (if it involves electrical components such as motors) : If the reducer is connected to electrical components such as motors, electrical failures may occur, such as short circuits, circuit breakers, loose wiring, and control circuit failures. These problems will cause the reducer to fail to start normally or run unstable.
