The service life of the worm gear reducer is affected by a variety of factors, such as load size, load type, lubrication condition, installation accuracy and working environment. If the reducer operates under rated load, has good lubrication, meets the requirements, and has a suitable working environment, its service life may be close to or reach 10 years. On the contrary, if it is in an overload state for a long time, or the working environment is harsh, such as high temperature, humidity, corrosive gases, etc., it may shorten the service life of the reducer to 5 years or even shorter.
Basic installation requirements
Ensure that the flatness error of the reducer installation surface is ≤1.5mm/m, and the anchor bolts are tightened according to the manufacturer's specified torque (such as M16 bolts 200-250N·m).
The ambient temperature is controlled within the range of -40℃ to +40℃, and cooling devices need to be installed after exceeding 40℃.
Ventiation and dustproof
Keep the installation site well ventilated and clean the radiator dust regularly (especially the bottom of the horizontal model).
Deeply clean the outer surface of the reducer every quarter to avoid the accumulation of corrosive dust.
Oil selection and replacement
Use special oil for worm gears (such as L-CKE/P 220), and the oil level needs to be submerged.
Check the oil quality every 500 hours. If the oil turns black (including copper chips) or there is a burnt smell, please change it immediately.
Grease Supplement
The bearing is replenished with lithium-based grease (NLGI 2#) every 2000 hours, and the filling amount is 1/3 of the bearing cavity.
1.Daily monitoring
Check the oil level (oil standard 1/2-2/3) and shell temperature (normal ≤60℃) daily.
Monitor running noise every week, abnormal 'harsh friction' may prompt worm bearing wear.
2. Key component inspection
Use a feeler gauge to measure the worm gear and worm meshing clearance every month. Normally ≤0.2mm, and more than 0.3mm, it needs to be adjusted or replaced.
Check the input/output shaft oil seal every quarter, and replace the double lip oil seal when oil leakage (lip mouth facing the oil cavity).
When the operation is disabled for more than 1 month, the input shaft needs to be manually rotated for 2-3 turns per month to prevent the worm gear and worm glue.
Before long-term discontinuation, the old oil should be emptied and new oil should be injected. The lubricating oil should be replaced when re-activated.
Stop the machine immediately when abnormal vibration (amplitude > 0.2mm) or temperature rise (>70℃) and check anchor bolts or internal wear.
Avoid overload operation (output torque ≤3950N·m) and frequent start and stop.
