What are the common reasons for noise in ZSY450-45-II gear reducer

The common causes of noise from ZSY450-45-II are as follows:

  • Lubrication issues

    • Insufficient lubricant : Too little lubricant will cause direct friction between moving parts such as gears, which will cause noise and also aggravate component wear.

    • Lubricant deterioration : lubricant aging, contamination or reduced viscosity, unable to form an effective oil film, and cannot play a good role in lubrication and buffering, causing friction when gears are meshed, resulting in dry friction noise, accompanied by rising temperature.

  • Gear problem

    • Gear wear or damage : long-term high load operation, insufficient lubrication or poor gear material, etc., will cause wear of the gear tooth surface, pitting, broken teeth or collapse. After the tooth surface is worn, the gear clearance becomes larger, and noise will be made due to unstable meshing when rotating.

    • Gear installation error : When gear is installed, the coaxiality and parallelism do not meet the requirements, or the gear shaft is bending and deformed, which will cause the gear meshing position to be offset, local stress is too high, and periodic abnormal noises are generated during operation.

    • Inadequate gear processing accuracy : tooth shape error, tooth pitch deviation during gear processing, or tooth surface roughness does not meet the standards, which will lead to uneven contact between the tooth surface during meshing, resulting in high-frequency vibration and noise.

  • Bearing problems

    • Bearing damage : The bearing is subject to various forces during work. Long-term operation will cause the rolling elements and cages to wear inside, and the wear will be aggravated during high load and high speed operation. In addition, poor lubrication, water inlet or foreign matter contamination will also accelerate the damage to the bearing. After the bearing is damaged, it will cause unstable operation and increase noise.

    • Improper bearing installation : If the bearing is too tight or too loose, it will cause the bearing to bear abnormal load, resulting in noise. If the installation is too tight, it may cause the bearing to deform. If the installation is too loose, it will cause the bearing to shake during operation.

  • Assembly or installation issues

    • The gear meshing clearance is not suitable : the meshing clearance is too large, and an impact will occur when the gear rotates, making a 'clang' sound, especially when starting or reversing; the meshing clearance is too small, the gear meshing is too tight, and friction will cause heat, which will be accompanied by sharp noise.

    • The box is deformed or unstable in installation : the box of the reducer is deformed by external force, or the anchor bolts are loose and the foundation is uneven during installation, which will cause the gear shaft to be positioned offset, vibrations occur during operation, and noise will intensify with the change of load.

  • Load and operating conditions issues

    • Overload or impact load : The equipment suddenly starts, brakes, or the load increases instantly, such as the material conveyed is stuck, which will cause the gear to bear impact forces beyond the design range, resulting in severe noise instantly making meshing.

    • Abnormal speed : The input speed is too high or fluctuates too much, exceeding the gear design range, which will increase the gear centrifugal force, change the meshing frequency, and generate abnormal vibration noise.

  • Other potential reasons

    • Internal foreign objects : If foreign objects, such as metal debris or other debris enter the reducer, may impact the components inside the reducer and generate noise.

    • Housing deformation : If the housing of the reducer is deformed due to heat or excessive vibration, it may also cause changes in the installation position of the internal parts, resulting in noise.
